TeamSnap vs SportsEngine vs Jersey Watch for one team

An honest comparison of TeamSnap, SportsEngine, Jersey Watch, free site builders and OurTeamSports for one school or club team that needs a public website.

Chris, founder of OurTeamSports · Published

If you coach one team, or you are the parent who got handed "the website," the big names in team software can be hard to tell apart. TeamSnap, SportsEngine and Jersey Watch are all good at what they were built for. They were just built for different jobs, and most of them were not built for a single team that needs one public page for families, fans and sponsors.

This guide compares them for that job. It says when each one is the right pick, including when that isn't us. Prices and review themes below come from public review sites and were checked on October 24, 2026. Prices change, so confirm on each company's own site before you decide.

The short version

  • You need private team chat, availability and RSVPs: TeamSnap.
  • You run registration and payments for a whole league or club: SportsEngine or Jersey Watch.
  • You have a volunteer who likes building websites: a free site builder can work.
  • You are one team that needs a public website families can open without an app: that is the job OurTeamSports was built for.

TeamSnap

TeamSnap is a private team app. It handles schedules, availability, messages and payments for the people on the roster, and many teams already use it.

According to Capterra's TeamSnap listing, it has a free plan for small teams and paid per-team plans from $69.99 to $129.99 a year. Reviewers there and on G2 like the scheduling and messaging. The complaints that come up are ads in the free app, features held back for higher tiers, extra fees on invoicing, and getting every family to install the app.

Pick it if you need private communication inside the team. It is not built to be your public page for grandparents, sponsors and the other team's fans. Plenty of teams use TeamSnap inside the team and a separate public website for everyone else.

SportsEngine

SportsEngine is built for clubs and leagues: registration, payments, rosters across many teams, and a website. GetApp lists plans at $79 or $129 a month. Reviewers praise how much it does, and the complaints that come up are a confusing interface, bugs, slow support, and changes that have to go through support.

Pick it if you run registration for a league or a multi-team club. For one team, you are paying for a lot of league machinery you won't use.

Jersey Watch

Jersey Watch is built for volunteer-run youth leagues: a website plus registration. It has very strong reviews on Capterra, where it is listed at $348 a year. The complaints that come up are price compared with what teams used before, card fees on registrations, and limited design options.

Pick it if your league needs registration and wants a well-reviewed tool. For one team that doesn't take registrations, it is more than you need.

Free site builders and Facebook

Google Sites, Wix and Squarespace are free or low cost, and a Facebook page costs nothing. They work when someone has time to design the site and update the schedule and roster by hand every week. The catch is that they aren't built for sports, so nothing keeps the schedule current except that volunteer. A Facebook page also buries the schedule under posts, and not every family uses Facebook.

Pick it if you have a volunteer with the time and the interest. Plan for what happens when that volunteer's kid graduates.

OurTeamSports

OurTeamSports is a public website for one team. It has schedule, roster, sponsor and event sections in your team's colors. Coaches and parent volunteers edit it themselves, with no developer and no support ticket. Families open one link, with no app and no login. Michigan teams can link their MHSAA schedule, and the site keeps games and scores in step with it.

It is $9.99 a month or $100 a year, with a 7-day free trial. That is one plan with everything included, with no ads, no add-ons and no tiers. Sign-up is in early access right now, and you can join the list at ourteamsports.com.

What it doesn't do: league registration, payments or private team chat. If you need those, use one of the tools above for them. OurTeamSports can sit next to them as the public face of the team.

Why we're different: a small company on purpose

OurTeamSports is a one-person startup. I'm Chris, and I build it, run it and answer the email. I'm not a school or a league. I started it because a team needed a site that parents could keep up to date, and that site became the first OurTeamSports team site.

Being small changes three things for you.

Your feedback goes straight to the person who builds it

There is no support queue or account manager between you and the product. If something is confusing, or your sport needs something the site doesn't do yet, email chris@ourteamsports.com and you'll be talking to the person who can change it.

We can move quickly

There are no layers of approval between a good idea and the product. When a coach or parent asks for something that would help their team, it can go on the list that day, and what gets built next comes from those requests.

The price stays low

There is no sales team and no office to pay for. That is why one team can have a real website for $100 a year, roughly the cost of one small sponsor's banner.

How to choose

Start with the job, not the brand. If you need private chat, use TeamSnap. If you run registration for a league, look at SportsEngine or Jersey Watch. If you have a volunteer who loves building sites, a free builder can work. If you need one public link that families, fans and sponsors can count on, and that your volunteers can keep current, that is what OurTeamSports is for.
